Most of the dishwashing detergents on the market are in liquid form. The main ingredient of the liquid soap is water. Transporting water around the world is not logistically ideal nor sustainable. Another problem with liquid detergents is that they are packed in a plastic bottle. We wanted to create a simple solution that would decrease the amount of plastic used in households. Our solution is Sæbe, a solid dish wash bar, which only needs a carton packaging around it.
It is easy and hygienic to use due to the wooden handle, which serves also as a hook. Therefore it can be placed next to the dish brush over the sink. Due to the handle, soap is convenient to dispense under the tap and gently rub with the dish brush. When the soap has been used, handle can be recycled with bio-waste or used as a kitchen hook. Sæbe was our approach on Meriroskahaaste challenge, that was looking for solutions that decrease the amount of litter ending up in the Baltic Sea.
